This is rare for me, another update in the space of a week!
Well, Harry has got me started on Magic: The Gathering, I've ordered a 2011 core starter set and a deck builder toolkit to start me off. I feel like such a nerd starting not only a fantasy game, but a fantasy card game. However, I'm really looking forward to it, as it gives me something to do and something to keep up with. I had planned Airfix/model making to be my "hobby" but unfortunately my hands have foiled that plan. Magic (or MTG as I'll call it) is perfect, it gives me something to do and it's cards and not too fiddly for my crappy fingers. I must admit though, I did fight the urge, because goddamn it is nerdy. Pokémon cards or Yugioh for nerds, that I can't wait to play!
I'm also looking forward getting my AppleTV. It's not going to ship until the end of September, but still, I've got over my price disappointment and I'm looking at the advantages of it. I've also managed to get my eyeTV DDT tuner working perfectly with my Macbook Pro. I recorded Kiki's Delivery Service the other day when it was on Film4 and the video quality is excellent. One annoying thing with it, is that it doesn't remove the adverts when it records, but I can live with that as fast forwarding isn't too difficult! I love the fact that I can watch TV and use my TV to play the PS3 at the same time. I've also got three more t-shirts on their way, all of which are either gaming or movie related. I can't wait for them to arrive, because I love branded merchandise! One of which is a Scott Pilgrim t-shirt, but in the comic the t-shirt is also a reference, so it's a double reference, which will be fun to explain (not!).
Again on the note of films, my Steelbook version of Kick-Ass arrived today and I promptly stuck it in the downstairs PS3 and watched it. If I hadn't seen Scott Pilgrim first, this would've been my favourite film. It's fantastic and really well done, I loved every moment of it. Obviously, Hit Girl was the best character in the film. Every line she had was gold and every scene she was in was fantastic too and I usually hate child actors with a passion. This is without a doubt my favourite film that I own on Bluray, but that's only until Scott Pilgrim comes along, then Kick-Ass will be bunked down to second spot. Fantastic film. Next up, I have Ironman 2 coming, which will be at the end of October and by then I should have both my AppleTV and my iPhone 4!
As for work, I feel the end is near. My boss doesn't want me back (from a safety point of view, they can't take me back) and I don't really want to go back as I can barely live a 'normal' day-to-day life. I know I won't be able to do any job and my boss also knows I can't do any job. The only problem we have, is that Occupational Health don't see it the way we do. Occupational Health feel that I'm perfectly capable to work. Well, I have no idea how they can say that, but I'll throw all the proof at them I can. Also, Human Resources say that if I can't do the job and Occupational Health don't retire me, then I need to be fired on "capability" grounds. It's fair enough, but I need a GP that sees it from my point of view and not look at it as though I'm only young.
Well, that's me done for now, until next time!
